Arizona Animal Welfare League: Build-A-Bear Youth Humane Education Grant Report

How did this grant help your organization and the pets in your care?

We utilized the grant monies to purchase animal manikins for our youth education programs. These manikins will help us teach our youth-program participants pet first aid and CPR, how to draw blood, how to give injections, and more! These manikins will be a hands-on teaching tool for summer camps, veterinary classes, youth volunteer opportunities, and all of our youth programming!

This grant was able to fund these manikins when we have not had the funds previously to do so. We will use these manikins to help teach basic first aid and basic veterinary skills. These manikins will give kids a unique opportunity that isn't offered in any other animal-based programming in Arizona.

This Humane Education Grant will allow us to continue offering unique and hands-on teaching opportunities for kids involved in our humane-youth programs. We have ordered the manikins; they are custom-made, so we are expecting them to arrive in December. We will send testimonials and pictures of the children interacting with the manikins when they arrive! I will send the copy of the order for the manikins and attach a few cute pictures of our summer camp kids this year until we get pictures of the manikins.
