How did this grant help your organization and the pets in your care?

The KONG toys were used for enrichment activities for the cats at our shelter and in foster homes. We also brought the toys to our adoption events at Petco and Petsmart to help alleviate stress with the cats at the event.

Enrichment is crucial to helping our cats feel calm and comfortable while they are living in a shelter situation. It can be a stressful place and these KONG toys allow them to relax, play, and release some energy. Potential adopters love to see the cats playing and showing their fun side with toys. Kids especially like to visit and play with the cats, so these toys allowed them to interact in a positive way with our shelter cats.

Our big boy Titan (first two images) loved to play with these KONG toys. We featured him playing with the toys in photos on our Facebook page. Titan had a more difficult time than most cats getting adopted, because he is FIV-positive. The photos of him playing with toys showed that he is just like all other cats and gave potential adopters a good idea of his feisty personality. This sweet boy did get adopted to a loving family at the end of April!
