Aiding 2 Adoption Rescue: KONG Toys Grant Report
How did this grant help your organization and the pets in your care?
The Kong toys provide enrichment for dogs as they settle into their temporary foster homes. The Kong toys also give the dogs a non-destructive outlet for their energy and boredom. A happy and satisfied dog is much easier to train. Filling the Kong with goodies, especially when those goodies are frozen inside the Kong, gives the dogs hours of active work. There are so many positive benefits for our foster dogs and we are so appreciative of this grant. This grant allowed our organization to use funding we would have spent in other areas.
How many pets did this grant help?
We have provided 10 foster dogs with their very own Kong toys.
Please provide a story of one or more specific pets this grant helped.
Meet Boone. He is a 2-year-old pocket pittie. The person who owned him severely neglected, abused, and starved Boone.
Boone was called “an inconvenience” and was brought to a vet to be euthanized. The vet convinced the owner to surrender him. He was emaciated, had hypothermia, and his organs were failing. The vet team fought hard and saved his life.
Boone just needed some down time, love, and puppy food to recover. The Kong toy gave him something to do while he was resting and recovering.
Boone was adopted shortly after getting his Kong. We are positive he is still enjoying it in his forever home!
