Asher, now named Charlie, was rescued from a small holding facility in Groveton, TX. This particular facility only has five kennels and they routinely have to transfer animals to a larger shelter to be euthanized for space.

Charlie was found as a stray roaming the town on his own and quickly became urgent due to the number of dogs at the holding facility. We tagged Charlie for our rescue and a flight was scheduled with Pilots N Paws to bring him to Weatherford, TX.

We immediately fell in love with his laid-back personality and goofy expressions. Charlie was going to be a wonderful addition to any family.

Next up was his visit to the vet to get a wellness exam and to be neutered. We were surprised to learn that Charlie tested positive for heartworms and would need treatment. The grant we received helped us pay for his heartworm treatment.

Before we found out that Charlie needed to have treatment, a young couple expressed interest in adopting him. After learning of his condition, they still wanted to meet him to see if he would be a good fit for them and their resident cats. Charlie passed with flying colors and the couple decided to adopt him and care for him during his heartworm treatment.
