How did this grant help your organization and the pets in your care?

The Kia Pet Adoption Grant allowed us to lower adoption fees for 11 cats and four dogs by over 75% while still being able to provide these animals with all the medical care and love they deserve. Three of our event adoptions included long-term shelter residents who had struggled to find new homes.

Koa was a resident of our shelter for more than 60 days back in 2019. After finally finding a new home, she encountered issues with another dog in the household and was sadly returned to the shelter in January of this year.

Koa struggles with meeting new people, so our Canine Team worked diligently to help ease her fear of strangers and slowly introduced her to various dogs in the shelter to better understand her
feelings around their different personalities.

We quickly recalled that a surefire way for Koa to make friends is to put a tennis ball in your hand — she lights right up!

Koa was finally adopted during our Petfinder Foundation and Kia Pet Adoption Event on June 11 after staying another 129 days in our care. The perfect family saw just how goofy and loving Koa really is and was able to bring her home at a significantly reduced cost thanks to the Kia Pet Adoption Grant. Koa, and all of our team, are thrilled for her new home.
