CritterhouseKC: Kia Pet Adoption Grant Report
How did this grant help your organization and the pets in your care?
This grant allowed CritterhouseKC to provide free adoptions to adopters and forever homes to our dogs and cats posted on Petfinder. With a goal of 10 adoptions, these Kia grant funds provide vital resources so CritterhouseKC can focus on matching our pets with the best families. This grant provided free adoptions for 10 dogs and helped CritterhouseKC take in 10 more that were waiting in local shelters.

Waylon came to CritterhouseKC in November 2021 with several other dogs who were living in an abandoned house in rural Missouri. Waylon’s companion dogs found forever homes almost immediately; however, Waylon was heartworm-positive and needed treatment.
Once Waylon finished his treatment, he was posted for adoption but was passed over several times. We always knew that if adopters could just see him, someone would adopt him.
CritterhouseKC took him to PrideFest, where he met his new family (first photo). They fell in love with him immediately. They absolutely adore Waylon, and the feeling is mutual.
After everything he has been through and his long stay in foster care, Waylon hit the jackpot with his wonderful new family. This adoption was well worth the wait and possible because of the generous Kia grant funding.
