Polk County Humane Society: Kia Pet Adoption Grant Report

How did this grant help your organization and the pets in your care?

Polk County Humane Society (PCHS) was able to adopt 30 adult dogs into new, loving homes with the help from the Petfinder Foundation Kia grant. PCHS used the Kia grant to discount adult-dog adoption fees by half, from $175 to $87.50. The discount served as an incentive for people to take a look at dogs they might have passed over before and helped get 30 adult dogs into homes, opening up spots for more homeless pets to have a second chance also.

Please provide a story of one or more specific pets this grant helped.

Angler (first photo) was adopted after six months at Polk County Humane Society and got a new family that includes a new best friend and playmate (second photo).

Bruiser (third photo) is a dog with wonky eyes. When Polk County Humane Society posted him on social media, people made fun of him (rude!). With the help of the Kia grant, Bruiser found the new love of his life (fourth photo).

Pecan (fifth photo) is a mixed-breed brindle darling who sadly spent six months at a municipal dog pound before a transfer to Polk County Humane Society. With the help of the Kia grant, Polk County Humane Society was able to get her into a loving home with a new friend in just a few weeks (sixth photo).
