How did this grant help your organization and the pets in your care?

We used the $1,000 to reduce the adoption fee for "hard-to-place dogs," including large dogs, black dogs, certain breeds, and dogs with behavioral issues. The grant allowed us to offset the adoption fees, which serves as a primary source of revenue for our shelter-operations budget.

How many pets did this grant help?

The grant DIRECTLY benefited 13 dogs; however, it INDIRECTLY helped many others by helping free up space in our shelter for other dogs.

Snoopy (first photo) was brought to BRAWA by Animal Control. He was a big hound mix weighing over 65 lbs. He was at BRAWA for more than two months and adopted for $30 with assistance from the KIA Pet Adoption Grant from the Petfinder Foundation.

Edward (second photo) was a returned adoption with his former owner “no longer wanting him.” He is a cur-pit bull terrier weighing over 65 lbs. He was at BRAWA for nearly two months and was adopted for $30 with assistance from the KIA Pet Adoption Grant.

China (third photo) was a 2.5-year old pit bull terrier mix brought to the shelter by Animal Control. She was at BRAWA for six weeks and adopted with the reduced adoption fee of $30 (fourth photo).

Drake (fifth photo) came into BRAWA as a stray. He was a big boy and was often passed over due to his color. He found a forever home after five weeks at the shelter for an adoption fee of $30 with assistance from the KIA Pet Adoption Grant.

Bruce (sixth photo) was a Rottweiler weighing in at a hefty 60+ lbs. He found a forever home with an adoption fee of $30 with assistance from the KIA Pet Adoption Grant.

Klint (seventh photo) was a black retriever mix who came to BRAWA as a stray. He got passed over for five weeks before he found his forever home at a reduced adoption fee of $30.
