Cibolo Animal Services: Kia Pet Adoption Grant Report

How did this grant help your organization and the pets in your care?

This grant allowed our facility to lower our adoption fees from our normal rate of $125 to $50 to make us competitive with our other local shelters in the area. During August and the first half of September, we have been able to adopt out animals who may have been overlooked due to our normal adoption prices. These pets have found new loving forever homes and hopefully will never step foot into a shelter again.

Boo-Boo was one of our many successful adoption stories. He was a mastiff mix and definitely on the larger size.

This handsome lug came into our facility as a stray, although we later learned that his finder may have lied to us and was actually his owner and dumped him on us.

We immediately fell in love with Boo-Boo and his great personality and demeanor. He got along with many of our other dogs, and we noticed he was a ladies’ man with our female dogs.

Finally a family came into the facility with interest in him. We performed a meet-and-greet with the entire family and everything seemed to work.

We allowed the family to foster Boo-Boo over the weekend and on Monday morning we received the fantastic phone call that they would be in to officially adopt him into their forever home.

Boo-Boo has gotten along extremely well with his new sister and is latched to his new best friend’s side, watching TV with her and lying next to her bed at night.
