How did this grant help your organization and the pets in your care?

We used this grant to reduce adoption fees on 11 of our longest-term residents. One of the 11 was adopted on July 22, 2023. The other 10 animals remain in our care with the reduced adoption fees still available.

PK (Pumpkin) is a 2-year-old chocolate Lab mix who was brought to us as an emaciated stray in November 2022. He only weighed 53 lbs. and was fearful and wary of strangers.

Finally, in July 2023, a young man filled out an application for PK. His mother, who works in animal welfare, gave him a glowing recommendation, as her son has worked with shelter animals for eight years and the fearful and unsocialized are his preference.

He has helped socialize many dogs and for that reason they were adopted to their forever homes. He has helped with hoarding cases in which dogs were aggressive. He can handle any size dog and is very mature. He has experience with dogs who are flight risks. He has his own home and a fenced yard.

PK left our care weighing 72 lbs. and is happy and healthy in his new home.
