East Coast Maine Coon Rescue: REDI Implementation Grant Report

How did this grant help your organization and the pets in your care?

East Coast Maine Coon Rescue benefited from the awareness that REDI training brought to our organization. Our regular membership consists of 11 volunteers. Of those volunteers, we added one who was originally from Puerto Rico, one from the Philippines, one with a physical disability, one with ADD and anxiety, and one who is retired and low-income. Our adoptions have also increased to include individuals from these communities as well.

Please provide a story of one or more specific pets this grant helped.

CoCo (first and second photos) is a small Maine Coon-mix kitten who was saved by ECMCR from [an open-intake] shelter in Maryland. She went on a long trip from Maryland to her temporary foster home in New Jersey, then on to her longer-term foster in Massachusetts.

She was adopted by a retired couple who moved to Massachusetts from Puerto Rico. CoCo is now very happy and definitely benefited from our REDI training!

Bourbon (third and fourth photos) was rescued from [an open-intake] shelter in North Carolina. He was adopted to Gwen Monaghan, who is a cancer survivor and a widow.
