Home for Good Dog Rescue: WAHL Grooming Grant Report
How did this grant help your organization and the pets in your care?
Home for Good Dog Rescue received a grant of WAHL shampoo products valued at $123.45. The product was received about one month ago. Home for Good transports dogs from high-euthanasia shelters in the South to New Jersey to find forever homes. Each week, our rescue transports approximately 20 puppies and dogs to our offices in Berkeley Heights, New Jersey. On transport day, our dedicated volunteers walk, bathe and groom the dogs and then the dogs are medically checked by our veterinary technician. At the end of transport day, each dog is picked up by their loving foster family, who they remain with until adoption. When the dogs arrive on transport day they are in dire need of a good cleaning! Our volunteers used the WAHL shampoos on our recent transport days.
This grant provided wonderful shampoo products for our organization to use on transport days. As a non-profit organization, any granted products or funds make a huge difference. The WAHL shampoo grant will enable us to spend money on other aspects of our organization, such as spay/neuter, transport, medical, etc. It is also a great help to the pets in our care. Thanks to the WAHL shampoos, the dogs were clean and silky smooth, which made them look extra beautiful in their Petfinder photos, which are taken on transport day. A good Petfinder photo helps the dogs get adopted.
How many pets did this grant help?
Approximately 75 dogs so far.
Please provide a story of one or more specific pets this grant helped.
Home for Good rescued Oscar from [an open-admission] shelter in Swainsboro, Ga. When we found him, he was running around back with a group of other dogs. Some of the dogs he was with were food-aggressive, which is why he was so thin when we found him. Oscar arrived at our offices on transport day, dirty and very thin. Thanks to the Petfinder Foundation and WAHL shampoos grant, Oscar was bathed and ready for his Petfinder photos (shown in collage). After a few weeks of TLC in his foster home, Oscar gained weight and was ready to find his forever home. Oscar was recently adopted! We’ve attached his adoption photo. We are lucky to have so many dedicated volunteers, foster families, adopters and supporters for making these miracles come true!
