Eden Animal Haven: Bar Dog Operation Grant Report
How did this grant help your organization and the pets in your care?
We received a grant of $750 to help support the purchase of supplies for cats and kittens in our rescue. As of Nov. 5, we had 90 cats in the shelter and another 70 kittens and mamas with fosters. Here are some of the items we've purchased since we received word of the award on Nov. 14:
Okocat litter $218.40 (10 boxes)
Revolution flea/tick preventative for cats $348.75 (30 doses)
Feline leukemia tests $301.64 (25 tests)
Just this partial list of items we purchased for our cats totals $868.79; we also purchased food, microchips, toys, etc. for about 90 cats in the shelter and another 70 kittens and mamas staying with fosters. We are so grateful that this grant could offset some of those expenses!
How many pets did this grant help?
It's hard to say how many cats will be directly affected by this grant, but our total intakes now stand at a record high of 379, and we will undoubtedly have more in the next two weeks.
Please provide a story of one or more specific pets this grant helped.
Fanta was one of six kittens born to his mama, Coca Cola, on Aug. 11, 2022, while in the care of a foster caretaker. He was adopted exactly four months later at a PetSmart in-store adoption event along with his sister Fresca.
During his foster stay with his family, Eden Animal Haven provided testing for feline leukemia, four rounds of vaccinations, wormer, flea/tick preventative, many pounds of cat litter, two large bags of Purina One dry kitten food, and dozens of cans of wet kitten food.
He developed into a beautiful, extremely friendly, unique little gray-and-white tuxedo cat and was adopted by a very appreciate couple. We run a Facebook group for our adopters to post updates on our cats; the first photo is of Fanta being adopted; the others show him with his sister the first day in their new home.
