Puppy Kitty NYC: Cat Enrichment Grant Report
How did this grant help your organization and the pets in your care?
The Cat Enrichment Grant helped us give more spaces for the cats at the shelter. The funds were specifically used to purchase Kuranda shelter beds/cat houses that are easily disinfected.
We placed them in our "shy cat" room, where our less-socialized felines reside. Having those extra spaces allows visitors to more clearly see and interact with the cats, and also provides more opportunities for our volunteers to interact with and socialize these cats.
The equipment also helped the cats feel more comfortable, as they have more vertical space to climb and interact with each other and people, thus providing safer interaction for everybody. It also allows potential adopters to interact with the cats, as they cannot hide.
Currently there are eight shy cats in the space. None have been adopted yet, but they are all on their way to be more approachable and soon, hopefully, adoptable. We are very grateful for this grant and our shy cats have benefited tremendously.

One of the beneficiaries of the Cat Enrichment Grant is Greyby. She is a small grey/blue adult. She is quite shy and can be easily spooked by human presence.
She is very playful and her enthusiasm to play may help in reaching her socializing and behavioral goals. She uses the perches and we hope in the near future that she will find a loving and patient home.
Currently Greyby is not adopted yet. We are looking to find her a quiet home, without other animals and children.
