How did this grant help your organization and the pets in your care?
The REDI training grant helped Sun Cities 4 Paws board members and employees better understand exactly what REDI is and to use that knowledge to make better and more informed decisions or policy changes for both employees and volunteers, and also policy revisions on our adoption parameters.
The REDI course has opened up a better dialogue between our employees and volunteers and our adopters and people surrendering animals, which in turn gives us a better chance of finding the best homes for the cats and kittens in our care.
Our adoptions have increased over the last 60-90 days, and we do feel that is a reflection of the REDI course and our ability to have not only the best interests of each cat in mind but to also ask the questions needed to place that cat in the right home, with the right person, couple, or family.

Peanut is one of the cats who has benefitted from the grant and will likely benefit again. Her story is a bit sad and we are looking for what we hope will be her forever home. Peanut was adopted and returned after 3-6 days twice, through no fault of her own.
We adopt to all demographics and, as we are located in a large retirement community, the senior population is one we adopt to often. Peanut is a super sweet 7-year-old cat and she was adopted twice and twice her adopter passed away less than a week after adopting her. So Peanut has been back and forth to our Youngtown Adoption area a few times. We are hoping to find her a forever home soon.
