Always and Furever Midwest Animal Sanctuary: Kia Pet Adoption Grant Report
How did this grant help your organization and the pets in your care?
The KIA Pet Adoption Grant supported Always and Furever's mission of finding each and every pet a forever family. These vital grant funds supported families with free pet adoptions and helped Always and Furever adopt over 50 dogs and cats during this grant cycle.
Families were so excited that they could focus on their new family member and spend their money on good food, beds, collars, and treats for their new furry friend.
How many pets did this grant help?
50
Please provide a story of one or more specific pets this grant helped.
Hazel (first photo) came to us from a small town in rural Oklahoma, where she was found as a stray. She came to us with two huge masses on her front legs; she was also heartworm-positive.
We got her tumors removed, but unfortunately the margins were narrow and the cancer remained, so we found a treatment where a vaccine is made from her cancer cells to help slow the spread.
So many medical issues would generally deter adopters, but Hazel’s new mom fell in love with her anyway and drove across the state to bring her to her furever home (second photo).
KIA grant funds helped Hazel and 50 other dogs and cats find forever families. Thank you, KIA!
