How did this grant help your organization and the pets in your care?

CritterhouseKC used grant funds to remove one of the barriers associated with pet adoption: the fees. This grant had a direct impact on the lives of our pets and the families we serve. By removing adoption fees, the Kia grant allowed adopters to focus their funding on supplies and care for their new family member.

Zuki had been released from a commercial breeding facility after years of crate living and puppy-raising. She came with many health issues, including a heart murmur and bad teeth.

One of our neighbors had recently lost her Pomeranian, so we asked her if she’d like to foster Zuki. She took Zuki home and fell in love with her instantly.

The only issue: She is a senior on a fixed income and the adoption fees were going to be a burden. We were able to waive the adoption fees with the Kia grant and know that Zuki is going to live her best life with a mama who will make sure that all of her medical needs are taken care of.
