Berkeley County Humane Society: Kia Pet Adoption Grant Report
How did this grant help your organization and the pets in your care?
With this grant, BCHS was able to place 44 dogs/puppies and 31 cats/kittens into forever homes.
We did three large pet-adoption events, providing gift bags to our pets to go home with along with gift bags for the children. We also used the grant funds on several normal adoption days throughout July and August to help place pets into forever homes.
It was a huge success!

Please provide a story of one or more specific pets this grant helped.
Harley (first photo) was a longtime resident here at the shelter. She was a 4-year-old pit bull who kept getting overlooked every day. She spent more than five months here at the shelter. Finally, on July 16, 2022, Harley found her forever home. She still comes to visit us at the shelter!
Willie (second photo) is a coonhound. He was at a high[-intake] shelter and we were notified that he needed out or he was going to be euthanized. We reached out and had him transferred here. Willie was extremely friendly and was only with us for two weeks before finding a forever home.
Bubbers (third photo) is a 7-year-old cat. He came to us after his owner passed away. Bubbers was with us for a little over a month before finding his forever home.
These are just three stories of pets who found homes with this grant.
