Animal Rescue League of Berks County, Inc.: Trolli Dynamic Duos Grant Report
How did this grant help your organization and the pets in your care?
The Animal Rescue League of Berks County frequently has small animals up for adoption, and during the summer months, they can often be overshadowed by the 600+ kittens we have in our care.
This grant enabled the ARL to highlight small-animal adoptions in a way we had not yet done. Typically, we host several cat and dog adoption events; this was the first small-animal specific campaign. It was a huge success and we hope to see more like it in the future. Thank you!

In January of 2023, our Humane Officers were called out to a burning building where several rabbits and chickens had been found wandering around the yard in the ashes of the fire. Some of the rabbits were covered in soot and smelled of smoke. They were gathered up, brought to the shelter, and given fresh food and water and a cool environment in which to decompress.
One of those rabbits, Ember, turned out to be pregnant and gave birth to three all-black babies. They were so small and sweet and lived it up in their foster home. When they were old enough, they were separated from Mom. Two of the babies were adopted right away, but Oakley sat in the shelter waiting for his turn.
Oakley grew up in the shelter and became quite a large rabbit! His silly and charming personality made him a fan favorite of the animal-care staff, but we couldn’t wait for his turn to go into his forever home.
Thanks to the Trolli grant, Oakley was finally adopted during an offsite event to a family that fell in love with him and were so happy to have a reduced fee!
