Gerda's Equine Rescue: Disaster Response and Recovery Grant Report
How did this grant help your organization and the pets in your care?
Our area was hit with devastating flooding in July and we lost almost all of our stored hay. Funds from this grant purchased a month and a half worth of hay for the 38 rescue horses in our care to help get us through the loss of our horses' main food source. Thank you so much, Petfinder Foundation, for providing this lifesaving grant for our rescue horses!
How many pets did this grant help?

Please provide a story of one or more specific pets this grant helped.
Blaze (first photo) came to GER as an owner-surrender last fall. He had lived with his owner since he was 8 months old and was surrendered at the age of 22 when his owners could no longer afford him.
He hadn’t been ridden in years, but but after we treated him for chronic Lyme and gave him a training tune-up, he was adopted by an amazing family looking for a trail-riding horse. When they came to visit, they asked about a companion for Blaze, and Barney (second photo) fit the bill perfectly as a companion and tailriding partner.
The two now enjoy group grooming and leisurely trail rides together with their new family (third photo)!
