Please provide a story of one or more specific pets this grant helped.

Marley is a handsome 7-year-old male Labrador retriever/rottweiler who was surrendered by his family on May 27, 2021, along with his best friend forever, a small female terrier named Shelby.

Seniors are hard to place, bonded pairs are hard to place, and dogs with cancer are very hard to place. Marley and Shelby fell into all of the above categories. Together since they were 6 weeks old, they were truly bonded and became stressed when separated.

Staff and volunteers quickly fell in love with the odd couple, but adopters were not looking for two seniors in poor health. Thanks to your grant, we were able to waive their adoption fee and pay for a large portion of the surgery that was needed to prolong Marley’s life.

They went home Dec. 5 and Marley had surgery on Dec. 8. He is recovering in his new home with Shelby by his side.
