Cheesecake (first photo) is a special gift who came to us last month. Upon visiting a remote shelter in California, we noticed a girl in need of help. She had been passed over many times due to her condition and age. Unfortunately, we did not have the capacity to help her on this visit, but we couldn’t leave her behind.

When we received the Bar Dog grant, we knew we had to rescue Cheesecake immediately, as she was nearing her last day.

A beautiful 8-year-old Lab mix with entropion in both eyes, Cheesecake was at risk of losing her eyesight. She had been living with this painful condition for far too long.

This sweet girl wouldn’t raise her head when you ran your hand over it. She was extremely depressed, as this painful condition had taken a toll on her.

Lucky for Cheesecake, her story became one of astounding love. Upon her arrival, we had already raised the funds for her surgery and secured a surgery date. The news was good: Her eyes and eyesight were saved.

We were able to provide food, supplies, toys, and love thanks to the Bar Dog grant. This girl is just a love with a soft heart and a welcoming spirit. She found her forever family just weeks after her surgery.
