Priceless Pet Rescue: Bar Dog Operation Grant Report

How did this grant help your organization and the pets in your care?

Thanks to the generous $1,000 grant from the Petfinder Foundation, our organization was able to purchase 24 bags of dog food. Each day, three bags of this food were used to feed the dogs in one of our locations. As a result, we were able to provide daily meals for approximately 290 dogs in our care.

This grant played a crucial role in ensuring that these animals received the nourishment they needed, especially at a time when donations of pet food had decreased due to the closure of the Amazon Smile program. We are incredibly grateful for this support, as it directly contributed to the well-being and sustenance of the dogs at our adoption center.

Princess was a resilient hound who, like many others, found herself in our care after a challenging journey. Princess and her siblings were rescued from a puppy mill in Kentucky and arrived at our adoption center in June, yearning for a chance at a better life.

During their stay with us, Princess and her shelter-mates experienced moments of uncertainty and loneliness. However, there was one thing that never failed to bring joy to their days: mealtime. Thanks to the generous grant from the Petfinder Foundation, we were able to provide nutritious food from our partners at Blue Buffalo and Just Food for Dogs, doubling our impact in ensuring these dogs ate well.

Princess, with her gentle eyes and eager spirit, was no exception. She eagerly licked her chops in anticipation of each meal. As we watched these once-vulnerable dogs grow stronger and more hopeful with each passing day, we were reminded of the profound impact that even a simple act like feeding them can have.

Today, we are thrilled to share that Princess has found her forever home, where she is cherished and loved. Her journey from a puppy mill in Kentucky to the warmth and comfort of a loving home is a testament to the power of compassion and the support we received through grants like the one from the Petfinder Foundation.
