Toledo Humane Society: Cat Enrichment Grant Report
How did this grant help your organization and the pets in your care?
The grant helped us decrease the stress levels of our cats while at the shelter. Our cats housed in cages can now express their instinctual behavior or scratching. This has helped prevent our cats from scratching on inappropriate surfaces. The cat rooms, where up to seven cats are housed, are experiencing less conflict because of the Feliway diffusers that were added. Feliway has also helped our more nervous cats come out of their shells by providing a more relaxing environment.
How many pets did this grant help?

Please provide a story of one or more specific pets this grant helped.
Sarah (first photo) arrived to THS with her kittens after her previous owners abandoned her.
She did wonderfully in her foster home, but started to show undesirable behaviors when returning to the shelter. Sarah started swatting at people who came near, and would scratch at the walls of her cage.
Because of the grant, we were able to provide Sarah with a scratching post to eliminate her behavior of scratching at the walls (second and third photos).
