Colorado Animal Rescue: Cat Enrichment Grant Report

How did this grant help your organization and the pets in your care?

This grant has significantly helped our Feline Enrichment program, which focuses on engaging all of a cat's five senses. Specifically, this grant has helped our Feline Enrichment program during prey-play and interactive-play sessions. Our staff and volunteers have a larger variety of toys to use in this program each day, further allowing us to keep our shelter cats thriving while reducing in-shelter stress.

How many pets did this grant help?

Please provide a story of one or more specific pets this grant helped.

We had a very busy season of kittens! Since being awarded the Cat Enrichment Grant, we were able to provide 42 kittens with more engaging and enriching toys before they went to their forever homes.

Two of these kittens were Froggy and Blossom, who were found as strays at only a few weeks old (their deceased mother was found alongside them).

Once we received the call that they had been found, our team jumped into action and got them into a foster home with Spring, a cat who had recently given birth to a litter of her own. It was an immediate perfect match: Froggy and Blossom latched onto Spring and she took them in as her own, grooming and caring for them without issue.

Now that all her babies have found homes, it’s Spring’s turn! In the meantime, she has lots of toys to help her continue to bloom here at C.A.R.E. thanks to the Petfinder Foundation!

You can meet Spring here.
