Three Little Pitties Rescue: Cat Enrichment Grant Report

How did this grant help your organization and the pets in your care?

With this grant, we were able to purchase two Aivituvin Cat Houses that can be used both in our cat barn and rolled outside so that the cats can get outdoor, fresh-air time in a safe environment. One of the houses can actually be set up against a window of the cat barn so that they can go in and out of the barn via the cat house and still be safe in the cat house while outside. We still have to have a cement or wood platform built in order to permanently have one of the cat houses installed outside the window, but that is coming. The kitties loved being able to watch people walking by, birds, and more while enjoying the fresh air in a safe environment.

How many pets did this grant help?

Hard to guess as it depends on quickly cats are adopted but we can house at least a litter of kittens and mama cat, sometimes 2 sets if they're only in the cat houses. so anywhere from 7-12/month/bi-monthly depending on age and when they're adopted.

Please provide a story of one or more specific pets this grant helped.

Thanks to these high-quality cat houses, we were able to have in our cat barn a litter of kittens, our “Spanish” litter, who did not have a foster.

As a result, they had a safe place, got to play, and, when needed, could be quarantined in the cat house if sick. For the first litter that got use of the cat houses, it helped them to have a mutli-level “house” in which to climb, sleep, and more. The house is easier to clean for our volunteers and makes it easier for them to interact with the kittens as well.

Even though these kittens were not in a foster home, because we had these cat houses making it easy to see them play, sleep, and more, they are all either adopted or pending adoption. Generally cats in foster homes get adopted quicker, but these kittens got adopted very quickly, as they were free to play and be kittens in the cat houses and we could easily show potential adopters via video call their personalities even when they were in the cat house.

Thank you again for this amazing grant, it is already making a big difference!
