Animal Protection Association: Kia Pet Adoption Grant Report
How did this grant help your organization and the pets in your care?
This grant allows us to offer two-for-one adoption fees for kittens. This encouraged adopters to look for a playmate for their new kitten, preventing the new kitten from becoming lonely or bored and hopefully resulting in fewer behavioral issues.
How many pets did this grant help?

Please provide a story of one or more specific pets this grant helped.
Ruthie is petite girl who came to APA after roaming the streets asking for help and food. She was very hungry and very pregnant. Fortunately, someone had compassion for this sweet girl and asked APA if they could help.
The help couldn’t come too soon, because within 10 hours she went into labor. Although she was very emaciated, she gave birth to six big, healthy babies (first photo). Four of her kittens — Roxie and Rosie (third photo) plus Radar and Roger (fourth photo) — were adopted as pairs thanks to the Petfinder Foundation grant.
Sweet Radar was not about to be left behind when his brother Roger was being adopted. He quietly crawled into the carrier while Roger’s adoption photo was being taken. Thanks to the grant, the adopter was able to leave with both kittens.
(Ruthie has been adopted, as well.)
