How did this grant help your organization and the pets in your care?

This grant from the Petfinder Foundation assisted the Animal Welfare League (AWL) in managing the expenses associated with Hurricane Ian.

The first priority was to service the generator, which was spewing so much smoke that the fire department was alerted.

Other priorities were to ensure the wellbeing of the animals in our care by securing the AC system and by providing drinkable water during the boil-water notice by Charlotte County Utilities.

Hemingway came to the AWL shortly after Hurricane Ian. His story included a loving family who’d lost the ability to care for him because of damage to their home during the hurricane.

After several inquiries generated on Facebook, Benjamin was adopted by another loving family on Oct. 12, 2022.
