How did this grant help your organization and the pets in your care?

After Hurricane Ida, For Pet's Sake Rescue transported animals to the midwest and northern states. We also helped take food to Rescue Alliance in Gonzalez, LA.

The grant gave us the ability to afford to drive the animals, pay for fuel on the van that was used to transport, pay for pet food within our rescue and some for other rescues, and a couple hotels while traveling.

Peanut (first photo) was a Louisiana rescue who came to us after Hurricane Ida. She is not a peanut at all. Bama (second photo) was an owner-surrender after Hurricane Ida. Bama is a big girl. She is affectionate, curious, calm, and sweet.

After Hurricane Ida, For Pet’s Sake Rescue was able to deliver pet food to Rescue Alliance. While we were there, we picked up 18 cats who needed placement. These felines were very ill. Unfortunately, not all of them survived, as some had severe issues such as feline infectious peritonitis (FIP). There were 12 transported to a rescue in New York and four transported to a shelter in Missouri. We still have two of the cats, as they were diagnosed with stomatitis and need surgery to remove their teeth. Of the 16 transported, all have found homes through the receiving rescue and shelter.
