How did this grant help your organization and the pets in your care?

In three months, the P.L.A.Y Pet Beds Grant has given 14 animals their own beds at our rescue, which many of them had never experienced. Out of those 14 animals, 10 of them have now found their forever homes. P.L.A.Y pet beds gave these animals a place to decompress from shelter life, abuse, neglect, and trauma.

How many pets did this grant help?

This grant will help over 30 animals in our rescue, providing them a comfortable place to rehab until their forever home is found.

Our rescue was contacted about a heeler-type dog who was left abandoned, tied to a pole. When she was released from the pole, it was clear this pup was a victim of abuse.

This pup was taken into the local shelter, where she resided for over two months. She would not allow anyone to touch her or work with her, as she was terrified of human interaction. This pup was facing euthanasia, as she was deemed unadoptable due to her fearful behavior from her history of abuse.

Pronking Pastures agreed to work with this pup and named her Bluey (first photo). The rescue immediately got Bluey to the vet to have her spayed. We soon found out that Bluey had a rotting aborted fetus in her uterus, a result of irresponsible breeding, that was believed to have been there for over four months. Her spay became more complicated and she needed more time to rest her head at the rescue.

It was clear that Bluey had never had a safe spot of her own, and our rescue, with the help of the P.L.A.Y Pet Beds Grant, gave Bluey the security and soft landing spot she needed so she could start her journey to finding her forever home.

Duke (second photo) was abandoned by his owner and was taken into the shelter on Nov. 8, 2022. Duke spent over two months in the shelter and his euthanasia date was set. That was when our rescue was contacted to pull Duke off the euthanasia list and we were able to place him in foster care.

One of the first things Duke received in foster care was a P.L.A.Y. pet bed of his very own! Duke spent close to two months in foster before his forever family adopted him through Petfinder on March 13, 2023.

Duke took his P.L.A.Y pet bed with him when he was adopted and is using it in his forever home to help with transitioning.

Our rescue could not be more grateful for these beds, as they have sincerely helped our pets find their forever homes.
