Humane Society of the Ohio Valley: Dog Field Trip/Short-Term Fostering Grant Report

How did this grant help your organization and the pets in your care?

We were able to purchase and use "Adopt Me" bandanas and harnesses to encourage volunteers to take shelter dogs on field trips and short-term foster trips. The trips were photographed and shared on our social media, which circulated our adoptable dogs and helped increase adoptions.

A scared beagle whom we named Bagel was taken downtown one evening for a field trip. When kids approached him, he came out of his scared shell and played up to the children (first photo).

Watching Bagel overcome his fear with the help of the kids, everyone fell in love with him. Bagel returned to our shelter with more confidence and ready for adoption. He was adopted the following day.
