How did this grant help your organization and the pets in your care?

Kong toys provide such enrichment for the dogs because they can occupy the dogs for a long time, especially when peanut butter, etc., is frozen inside the Kongs. We have an "enrichment room" and the Kongs were utilized in this room for our various canine residents. Kongs are also safe to leave in the dogs' kennels (unlike many other toys that some dogs like to eat!).

Cooper was a volunteer favorite. He was a resident of the shelter for a couple months.

He wasn’t thriving at the shelter, despite lots of special attention. He spent a lot of time in the enrichment room to occupy his busy mind.

He loved the Kong toys, especially the toys with the frozen yogurt-peanut butter mixture.

All the volunteers were in love with him. Since he wasn’t thriving, one of the volunteers agreed to foster him at his home. Of course, Cooper got to bring his beloved Kong toys with him.

After being in the foster home for a couple weeks, he came out of his shell. Shortly after that, he found his furrever home!
