Columbus Dog Connection: KONG Toys Grant Report
How did this grant help your organization and the pets in your care?
This grant helped us with enrichment for our fosters and helped with crate training, making them more adoptable. Each dog who was in foster care received a new Kong, and when they were adopted, the Kongs went with them to their new homes with literature from the Kong company that came with the toys and information on enrichment recipes.

Please provide a story of one or more specific pets this grant helped.
One of the pets who received a Kong prior to adoption was Bruno (first photo). Bruno was found as a stray but was microchipped! Sadly, when we contacted the owner, she never returned our calls and blocked us on social media, so it was obvious that she had dumped him.
We noticed that he was having some pain in both hind legs, with limited motion, so we took him for radiographs. We found that both his hind legs needed cruciate repairs, and we were lucky to find a donor who not only helped cover the cost associated with his surgery, but helped us find a foster home for Bruno to recover in.
After surgery, he needed a lot of kennel and rest time, so having a new Kong toy helped his foster keep him busy, and enriched, with different treats and recipes. His foster ended up adopting him (second photo)!
