Crate Escape Rescue: KONG Toys Grant Report
How did this grant help your organization and the pets in your care?
Each one of our pups going into foster care received a Kong, a Kong pamphlet, and a goodie bag of treats to help them adjust to their new life. The Kongs helped immensely with the anxiety some of our adult dogs had transferring into a home environment. They also were a crowd favorite with puppy fosters when it came to acclimating them to their crate.

Luca was one beneficiary of the Kong grant.
Luca came into rescue a timid, shy pup with little confidence and a whole lot of anxiety. Acclimating him to being in the crate, or even having his own alone time, was a challenge.
Luca’s foster started to work on these issues by giving him a special Kong treat when he went into his crate or when she had to leave the room for an extended period of time. The Kong not only was a tasty treat for Luca, but it kept his mind busy and helped him focus on something other than his anxiety.
While this is still a work in progress, we are happy to say that Luca’s Kong has played a major role in helping him overcome his anxiety and settle into his foster home. As of now, Luca is still looking for his forever home.
