How did this grant help your organization and the pets in your care?

We have been using the beds faithfully in the areas where the cats are able to come out and lounge on them. They love them! The beds keep them off of the floor and on something warm and cozy. They also come in handy when you need to move a cat who isn't thrilled about being handled: Just pick up the whole bed and wrap them up like a burrito -- then the cats don't mind being moved. Snug as a bug in a rug!

Flora is most thankful for her bed. She was abandoned at one of our outside side doors, left by her owners in a carrier. No name, no note, just sitting there.

She is very sweet and loving, but we noticed that she didn’t walk around much and if she did, it was low to the floor. We mentioned this to the folks at the Boston Animal Rescue League Spay Waggin’ the day we brought her for her spay and they did an extensive exam of her legs. Turned out that she needed FHO surgery. We then contacted the Luke & Lilly Lerner Clinic and they got her in for the surgery within a couple of days.

Flora is loving this bed. When folded, they are even more squishy and soft, and she is recuperating very nicely and walking around like nothing was ever wrong. She will be going home on Monday.
