How did this grant help your organization and the pets in your care?

This grant helped to enrich the lives of the animals in our care. Many of our dogs are rescued off the street and have had little human contact. The Kong toys help the dogs build trust through play, which is fun for both the dog and their foster family.

We have been able to enrich the lives of many of the dogs within our rescue. Layla is a good example of one of our rescues who has loved her Kong toy. She is special-needs and has enjoyed wheeling around the yard with her Kong Plushie (first photo). She has been adopted.

This grant also helped boost the morale and aid in the recovery processes of two very important working dogs in our county. Hondo and Aros, two very courageous San Diego police K-9s, were both stabbed in the line of duty. We provided some of the Kong toys received as a part of a recovery package sent to their handlers (second photo).
