Humane Indiana: Play Yard Renovation Grant Report
How did this grant help your organization and the pets in your care?
This grant helped support a renovation of Humane Indiana's play yard for animals in care at the shelter. Thanks to the Petfinder Foundation, dogs can exhibit natural social behavior, play, and connect with potential adopters so they can find permanent homes and have a better quality of life while at the HI shelter.
The play yard was previously stone, with low fencing that was falling apart and poor drainage. Now, as you can see from the photo, the play yard is artificial grass, with proper drainage and high-quality, proper-height fencing.
How many pets did this grant help?

Please provide a story of one or more specific pets this grant helped.
Gunnar is a puppy and has lots of energy to expend, and the play yard helped him do that. The improved drainage, dog-safe artificial turf, and better fencing meant Gunnar couldn’t escape through the fence and could play safely. He was quickly adopted.
