Portsmouth Humane: Play Yard Renovation Grant Report

How did this grant help your organization and the pets in your care?

Our shelter has 16 smaller play yards that have been unusable due to digging. Thanks to the Petfinder Foundation's Play Yard Grant, we were able to purchase dig-proofing to reinforce the small yards and make them safe for use again.

With the installation of the dig-proofing, we will be able to facilitate multiple small (two- to four-dog) playgroups simultaneously throughout the day. Previously, we were unable to utilize these spaces, which restricted our ability to offer our dogs outdoor time without them being at risk of escape or injury.

Nova has been a shy girl since arriving at Portsmouth Humane. We found that she enjoys spending time with other dogs, and it enhances her confidence!

Thanks to the Petfinder Foundation’s Play Yard grant, we were able to repair our small play yards to give her more time outside with her friends, which has helped her build her confidence with our staff.
