How did this grant help your organization and the pets in your care?

Cotton was 13 years old and weighed 16 lbs. He was on pain medication (Gabapentin, one pill every 12 hours) and steroids (prednisolone, one pill/day), which were very effective in managing his pain. He also had a food allergy and was fed prescription food (novel protein food and hydrolyzed food).

The grant was utilized to pay for Cotton's veterinarian visits and also for his prescription food. Cotton was in foster care, but was adopted on April 28, 2023, and he was loved until his last days by his family, through May 12, 2023.

The grant passed to his adopter for veterinarian visits for Cotton, which allowed him to be adopted by someone who might otherwise have been concerned about the expense of a senior cat on hospice care with a special diet. The exposure for Cotton and expenses paid for him permitted Colony Cats to focus on other cats in our care and provide the needed medical care in other special cases.

With the assistance of this grant, Colony Cats was able to pay for the care for Cotton for the remainder of his life.

The grant was awarded on April 26, 2023. Cotton was adopted on April 28, 2023, into a forever home, where he was loved and cared for until he passed away on May 12, 2023.

This grant was utilized to pay for veterinarian visits and food for Cotton that totaled $214.72. The remainder of the grant was transferred to another cat in our care, George C. Scott, on August 4, 2023.

We are most happy Cotton spent his life being loved and had a forever family his final days.
