Lady Bird was with Safe Pet Project for over a year. She was a senior dog who had to be an only pet and couldn’t be around other dogs, all of which made it was difficult to find a home for her.
We finally had someone interested in Lady Bird: a senior gentleman who was retired and lived alone with no other pets, but had mobility issues. At a meet-and-greet, it was evident they were a wonderful match.
The Senior Pet Adoption Assistance grant was used to build a fence at the adopter’s home that would allow Lady Bird to go outside without issues for her or her adopter. The fence-building labor was provided by our volunteers (second photo). Lady Bird got a home, her adopter gained the love of a dog, and we were able to free up a space for another dog to come into our care.
