Chief is a handsome, aged-to-perfection, laid-back super senior who has been in the shelter system for well over two years. This dapper 8-year-old gentleman deserves a soft and warm spot on which to lay his head and relax during his retirement years.

Chief had been labeled as very dog-selective at his former shelter; however, he has participated in daily playgroup sessions at LCHS without incident and has met a wide range of dogs in the process.

Chief presented with raw and irritated skin upon arrival at his former shelter and was diagnosed with allergic dermatitis. It is recommended that he remain on a monthly allergy treatment such as Apoquel, receive medicated baths during flare-ups, and eat a limited-ingredient food.

We feel that these requirements are daunting to potential adopters and as a result, Chief is spending his glory days in a concrete kennel versus a comfy couch. In an effort to promote Chief and secure a loving, responsible home for him, LCHS will use this grant funding to provide prescription and dietary assistance for his adopter to ensure that Chief continues to be his happiest and healthiest self.

Chief’s adoption fee has been sponsored and, upon adoption, we will arrange for the adopter to receive any necessary medicines and prescription food for Chief through our veterinary partner.

We are beyond happy to report that Chief’s long wait for a forever home came to an end when he was adopted on March 5, 2023! Chief is living his best life with his paw-rent and is a very happy and healthy boy.
