Little Beans Orphan Ark Rescue: Kia Pet Adoption Grant Report

How did this grant help your organization and the pets in your care?

By being awarded the Kia Pet Adoption grant, we could cover the costs for several rescued pets that required medical, spay or neuter, vaccinations, rabies, and their daily housing necessities before being adopted.

All expenses needed for the rescues in our care are solely dependent on donations received from the public. By receiving grant funding, we are able to adopt out rescued pets faster because we are not waiting on the funding to get them ready for adoption.

Adopting out rescued pets faster means we can save more lives as space opens up for the next pet in need. Having reduced some of the adoption fees on certain dogs, we were able to adopt out some of the less-favored breeds or dogs that had been overlooked.

How many pets did this grant help?

Please provide a story of one or more specific pets this grant helped.

Daylin (first photo), a white male purebred pit bull, was an owner-surrender; he came with two other puppies. The owner was a backyard breeder who couldn’t afford the care and food required for the puppies.

Out of the litter, only three puppies survived. Daylin and his littermates were malnourished and in need of deworming and vaccinations.

Daylin’s nearly pure white coloration and being an “aggressive” breed were obstacles to navigate, regardless of him being an absolute sweetheart.

By having the funding available to use, we were able to take Daylin and his littermates in and provide them with what they needed to have a successful adoption. By lowering his adoption fee, Daylin was adopted locally by a family with children and another younger dog for him to play with.
