Friends of Rowlett Animals: Kia Pet Adoption Grant Report
How did this grant help your organization and the pets in your care?
The Petfinder Foundation Kia Pet Adoption Grant provided much-needed discounted adoption fees for cats in our rescue program. At the time we applied for the grant, adoption rates had come to nearly a screeching halt. Providing the discounted rate, and being able to advertise the partnership with the Petfinder Foundation, gave a boost to adoptions!
Friends of Rowlett Animals (FRAs) has cats for adoption at two PetSmart locations nearby. They were kind enough to allow us to post flyers about the Petfinder Foundation grant and discounted adoption fees.
Thank you so much for allowing us this opportunity to increase adoption rates during the time of year when adoptions were extremely slow!

Please provide a story of one or more specific pets this grant helped.
Winnie (first photo) came to FRAs with what seemed to be a recurring upper-respiratory infection. After a few treatments that didn’t seem to be working, she was taken to a specialist, who found that this tiny kitten had a two-inch polyp in her nasal cavity! Her foster cared for her through the surgery and recovery, and, thanks to the Petfinder Foundation, Winnie was adopted not long after into her purr-fect family!
FRAs runs the TNR (trap, neuter, return) program for our city. One of our colony managers finally caught a momma and kittens to get them spayed and neutered and returned to their colony. However, the kittens were young enough to be socialized, and one of the kittens, Smith (second photo), had a terrible eye injury.
FRAs was able to get the diagnosis that the eye needed to be removed. Smith was placed into foster care through his surgery and recovery, and he and the other kitten (third photo) were both adopted soon after into their fur-ever homes!
