Humane Society of the Ochocos: Kia Pet Adoption Grant Report
How did this grant help your organization and the pets in your care?
We used the grant funding to offer reduced-fee adoptions ($20 off) for qualified adopters, particularly of cats and kittens. HSO consistently has a severe backlog of cats and kittens waiting for spay/neuter surgeries due to veterinary practice shortages. We also had an epic kitten season, which is still ongoing. The grant funding helped offset fees for adopters to incentivize additional adoptions.

Please provide a story of one or more specific pets this grant helped.
Granny Smith came to us as a stray and in pretty bad shape in late August.
After a couple weeks of looking, HSO was able to find a wonderful home full of care and love in which she could gain some weight and recuperate from her days on the street.
Our best guess is that this laid-back senior is around 12 years old and she just needed a quiet, comfy, loving home to live out her last chapter. Her adoption fee was waived thanks to this grant!
