Beaver County Humane Society: Trolli Dynamic Duos Grant Report
How did this grant help your organization and the pets in your care?
Beaver County Humane Society used the funding from Trolli’s Dynamic Duos grant to waive adoption fees for five small animals.
Grants like these help us work toward more equitable communities by removing some financial barriers from the adoption process for worthy families that want to adopt pets. Every adoption from our shelter opens space for even more animals who need us — and our “unexpected” pets introduce a more diverse pool of families to the world of pet ownership.
How many pets did this grant help?
Five: Three ferrets and two rabbits.
Please provide a story of one or more specific pets this grant helped.
Several months prior to our receiving funds from Trolli’s Dynamic Duos grant, three ferrets were rescued from deplorable conditions by our Humane Investigations team.
Since the ferrets needed medical attention and TLC, we had to find a foster family to keep them until they were well enough for adoption. We were extraordinarily lucky to find a family that could foster them for their months-long recovery, and it was the same family that ended up adopting them.
The timing was perfect: We’d initially planned to use the funding for only rabbit adoptions, but Ferri, Cannoli, and Pablo became available for adoption at the same time we received this grant, so their foster family was able to adopt them without an added financial barrier.
We’re grateful for the loving families who gave Ferri, Cannoli, and Pablo and two of our rabbits, Willow and Zinnia, happy homes, and for Trolli’s Dynamic Duos grant that made these adoptions possible.
