How did this grant help your organization and the pets in your care?

KC PAWS's mission is to save the lives of homeless pets by changing the way our community views animal sheltering and shelter pets. KC PAWS used Kia Pet Adoption Grant funding to provide free pet adoptions. Kia grant funds removed the barrier of adoption fees. Adopters were allowed to focus on taking home their new pet(s) and providing food and supplies to their new family members.

Gunnar (first photo) came to KC PAWS as a surrender after his owner’s untimely death. Gunnar was traumatized upon his arrival and was lashing out at anyone who tried to interact with him.

Through patience, time, and lots of love, Gunnar slowly started coming out of his shell and he learned to be a dog again. He was finally ready for a new family.

A wonderful couple came along who understood his pain and the past trauma he had experienced and were willing to be patient with him. Gunnar is so happy now, and we believe you can see it on his face.
