Paws4ever: Kia Pet Adoption Grant Report

How did this grant help your organization and the pets in your care?

This grant allowed Paws4ever to cover half-price adoption fees for five cats and dogs during our 60th Anniversary Open House on Sept. 17 and waive adoption fees for five other cats and dogs during our "Fall Fur Me" October adoption promotion. Now that our October promotion is over, we plan on using the additional funds to waive fees for four of the pets who have been with us the longest.

Gypsy came in with two other adult male cats in March 2022 and his sibling has long since been adopted.

Gypsy was not very friendly to people and picked a select few people that he preferred. He also had an ongoing gastrointestinal problem that required a special diet.

We knew it was going to be difficult to adopt him out. Thanks to the Kia Pet Adoption Grant, we were able to reduce his fee in half for our 60th Anniversary Open House.

The woman who adopted both of his siblings previously came to look at him and fell in love with him that day. He must’ve known she was special because he let her hold him and love on him, which was not the norm for him, especially with someone he’d just met.

We get regular updates from his adopter, who sends us sweet photos and says, “Gypsy is doing really well. He has his favorite sleeping spots and is completely happy! He’s very affectionate when he wants to be!”
