Wag On Inn Rescue: Senior Pet Adoption Assistance Grant Report
How did this grant help your organization and the pets in your care?
Teddy and Will are a bonded pair who belonged to one family their entire lives. Sadly, their family lost their home and the dogs were surrendered.
Teddy is a 10.5-year-old male Yorkie and Will is a 6.5-year-old male Shih Tzu. They came in very matted and don’t love being picked up or held just yet -- and they will nip you to tell you.
It's difficult to find a home for a bonded pair of seniors, especially when they are two small dogs with BIG personalities!
We were able to waive their adoption fee of $500 and provide the adopter with a supply of food, treats, and toys for both boys. This is helpful for this senior pair who will need some extra TLC in their new home.

Teddy and Will are a bonded pair who belonged to one family their entire lives. Teddy is a 10.5-year-old male Yorkie and Will is a 6.5-year-old male Shih Tzu. Sadly, their family lost their home and they were surrendered to a local New Jersey shelter, so Wag On Inn stepped in to help them find the perfect home.
They came in very matted and didn’t love being picked up — and they would nip you to tell you. Besides the random nips, they are adorable boys who are full of spunk and have the funniest personalities.
Teddy likes to play fetch and LOVES butt scratches and treats. While Will is younger than Teddy, Will acts like a grumpy old man with a more reserved temperament than Teddy. Will tends to bark at men, and Teddy just likes to bark.
It took some time for these boys to decompress and feel comfortable in their foster home. They even went on one trial adoption that didn’t work out and they were returned to us.
Finally, after several months in rescue, they found their perfect home and are living their best lives. Thank you, Petfinder Foundation!
