Countryside Animal Rescue: Dog Field Trip/Short-Term Fostering Grant Report

How did this grant help your organization and the pets in your care?

This grant was used to help start our Paw Walker Foster Program. This program encourages people to come meet our dogs and take one on a field trip for the day.

This grant allowed us to purchase new collars, leashes, Haltis, harnesses, “Adopt Me” vests. and dog water bottles for the foster volunteers to use.

So far, several of our dogs have been taken to the beach, on hikes, walks, and even enjoyed a puppuccino at Starbucks, all wearing their new “Adopt Me” vests. A group of volunteers took four dogs to our local street market, where they were always a big hit.

As a result, two of our dogs, Coconut and Mars, were seen at the street market and recently officially adopted. Both had been patiently waiting for someone to fall in love with them. Licorice, our Labradoodle, has a potential adopter meeting him this weekend.

Our Paw Walker Foster Program has been so successful that our Weekend Pawplay Foster Program is now attracting new interest.

Our dogs love their new accessories and love showing them off on their field trips.
Thank you, Petfinder Foundation.

How many pets did this grant help?

20-40

Please provide a story of one or more specific pets this grant helped.

Mars is one of three puppies dumped at our rescue. He was 3 months old. Two days later, all three puppies tested positive for Parvo. It was a tough battle but Mars and his siblings recovered.

Mars is the sweetest boy with amazing brindle markings. His siblings were adopted and little Mars was still waiting for his new family.

Finally, he was adopted, then returned because he was going to be too big. He was adopted again but returned due to a situation with an older Chihuahua.

Mars waited patiently. One of our foster volunteers decided to take him to the local street market. He was dressed up with a new “Adopt Me” vest and a scarf. He was on his best behavior that day.

A gentleman spotted Mars and fell in love. The volunteer gave the man our contact information and suggested filling out an application. The next day, arrangements were made to have a meet-and-greet. They loved Mars and took him home that day.

Today they are going to finalize his adoption. Mars finally has a forever home.
