Naperville Area Humane Society: Kia Pet Adoption Grant Report
How did this grant help your organization and the pets in your care?
This grant enabled us to provide waived adoption fees for 11 dogs over 1 year old and three cats over 1 year old who had been at the shelter for more than two months. Since we received the grant, six of the dogs and two of the cats who had their fees waived have been adopted. We still have five dogs and one cat who are sponsored by this grant here at the shelter currently awaiting their forever homes.

Please provide a story of one or more specific pets this grant helped.
Maisie, a 1-year-old diabetic dog, is one of the dogs who is currently awaiting adoption who is benefitting from this grant. She was an owner-surrender and has been with us since April of this year.
Upon arrival, Maisie was very anxious and fearful around new people. About a month after she arrived, Maisie relaxed and was able to show us her true personality: a young, affectionate, playful pup.
However, her lifelong medical condition requires daily insulin shots and has been a deterrent for some adopters. We are hopeful that by waiving her adoption fee courtesy of this grant and providing her insulin at cost (through our vet partnership) will help her get adopted.
